I Pianali

Toscana IGT Rosato

I Pianali takes its name from the locale where Argentiera is located, a plateau rich in plant species that affect the tempo of the seasons and the natural equilibrium. One of those species is the oleander, which is omnipresent on the Mediterranean coast. For the Middle Ages, it is supposed to have symbolised the harmony of the universe; for Argentiera, it is the symbol of a recurring new beginning: the opening of its flower signals the start of spring.

2022 Growing Season

The 2022 growing year will be remembered as the hottest in recent decades, one that required enormous efforts to cope with higher temperatures and irregular rainfall, specifically assisting the vines to respond to stress in a balanced manner and to use their natural resources to adapt to different climates.

Careful management of soil, fertilisation, canopies, and micro-irrigation combined to allow us to harvest grapes that were perfectly sound with no signs of drying, partially helped by 42mm of rain in mid-August. 2022 Harvest notes

Harvest officially started on 25 August, about a week earlier than the historic norm at Argentiera.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from the I Pianali vineyard, for the production of I Pianali Rosato, were among the first clusters to be picked. Cabernet Sauvignon in particular coped extremely well with the summer drought, even with regard to crop levels.

All the grape varieties coped well with an extremely challenging season, which infused the grapes with a diversity of characteristics: richness and concentration, but exceptional acidities and classic varietal fidelity as well.

I Pianali brings delicacy, the scent of fresh air, a crisp sea breeze. It is a wine of crystalline, free-spirited purity, like a pink linen foulard caught by the wind that has just caressed the Mediterranean’s wild herbs. This wine is an invitation to enjoy and feel the carefree side of life.
