Its crystalline ruby unveils a Mediterranean dawn, releases the pungent scent of wild scrub, and displays the nobility of earth. Its progression is marked by the life-force in the vineyard itself, the will for life innate in the vine’s unceasing efforts spent in sending roots deep into the sand for water.

2021 Growing Season

The 2021 growing season will be remembered for several features: weather, certainly, which was hot and dry; its crop, outstanding both in quantity and quality; and harvest and winegrowing practices, which were efficiently managed in both vineyard and winecellar.

The harvest was brief, lasting from 2 September through 1 October, and the comprehensive results were outstanding, confirming the sustained high quality of Argentiera’s vineyards. All the grape varieties performed well in a challenging growing year marked by a lack of rain, which nevertheless produced sound, healthy, optimally ripe clusters.

2021 Harvest Notes

Picking the grapes for Poggio ai Ginepri took place during the second week of harvest.

A combination of still-summery weather, with winds coming in from both east and west, and perfect, intense sunlight created ideal conditions for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. Polyphenol availability in the skins was exemplary, and fermentations and extractions were problem-free, resulting in red wines significant in both aromatics and structure. Overall quality thus promises to be high, as for the vintage as a whole.
